Shrub, I'm gonna have to cut my losses and give up on you. Your link tells us nothing, absolutely worthless and of no value. I m sure it makes sense in that Lex Luther brain you have, but I'm not gonna 'splain to you why link information you provided is worthless.

Probably because you cant read it.

Easy question. In fact, a layup

What is Trumps purpose in imposing these tariffs?

All you did was post profit margins. That is nowhere near enough information to make the definitive claims you are. You’re a binary thinker. It’s entertaining to watch you struggle.

Which was the correct response to the person I responded to

If you actually followed the conversation, you wouldnt be this confused.

No it wasn’t. It’s a single data point. We understand you can’t comprehend more than one data point. If you could, you would know why your link is useless on its own.

Sure it was.

He claimed Chinese companies had higher margins.

1. I don't trust any information coming out of China regarding profits or margins.
2. Most of the companies on that list are banks and service companies. not manufacturing

That makes it convenient.

I suppose the conversation has reached its end, if all sources are not to be believed.

It was irrelevant to the conversation anyway, even if accurate. Profit margins of insurance companies and banks in a conversation about manufacturing and tariffs?

And much of the manufacturing there is owned by conglomerates with huge mixes of different industries, from healthcare to steel. Trying to judge the profit margin of what could be a small manufacturing subsidiary, by the numbers from the whole company is a fool's errand.

But hey, tell us more about how the gun parts you buy on Amazon have increased.

The Fed agrees with me that the price increases are being passed to the consumer.

Your anecdote be damned. Do you really think most of the nation is lying, when they say its costing them more to live now than it was a year ago?

Are the people wrong? And your little anecdote the truth?

Has ANYONE in this thread or anywhere else on the planet insinuated that ALL tariffs are absorbed by the manufacturer?

Of course some of the costs are passed on. Of course some are not. WTF are you even talking about?

Its been repeated for months. Its also what the administration is telling you people.

Of course, he's had to correct himself. I dont think the MAGA baws are aware.

quote:

President-elect Donald Trump took a massive step back from previous claims he’s made on his planned tariffs, stating in an interview over the weekend that he could no longer “guarantee” that costs from tariffs wouldn’t be passed onto consumers.

Now
quote:

Former President Donald Trump, joined by former U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, on Monday said his plan to impose new tariffs on all imports won’t raise prices on U.S. consumers, as charged by Vice President Kamala Harris and other critics.

Then.

He was wrong of course.

I've never referenced Trump one time in this thread. I'm talking about tariffs from an economic standpoint, not a political one.

Quoting Trump to me is not some gotcha. I don't give a frick about him or any politician.
