Why didn't Trump just shut DACA down immediately? simply declare they revert to prior status before Obama's EO?

By postponing it until March 5, Trump gave the Dems the budget stick to spank him with.

I hope, and I'm sure, that Trump will stay the course and continue to fight against illegal immigrants.

DACA was never policy voted and vetted by Congress.

I'm sorry, but an EO that had a clear sunset date needs to be put to pasture and we all move on. Regardless of what any Dreamer is doing now, they have knowingly and willfully evaded the law.

ETA: it’s my belief the dreamers should be ahown the door.

It was a stalling tactic. He ignored the issue until several states announced a lawsuit. The states were assured of winning on the merits so he conceded the lawsuit, while leaving time for Congress to change the law.

Because he has framed it as Democrats being unreasonable and thus leading to no DACA and gov shutdown.

If he flat out eliminates DACA all coverage would be negative and opposing him.

And that will only open the door for all illegals. Schumer says that Trump changed his mind on the deal, but he changed his terms too in already trying to broaden who is considered a "dreamer".

Deport their illegal asses and let them dream of the good old days when they didn't live in a shithole.

he doesn't want to, IMO. If he can get the rest of the immigration changes he wants, he'll let them stay. Dudes not totally heartless regardless of how he's painted

The absolute MOST Trump should ever agree to is a Green Card without the right to vote.

That's the most I would find acceptable. They simply are NOT citizens of the US Government.

President Trump was a genius to place finding a solution in the hands of Congress.

Now he can say that the Dumocrats care more about 800,000 illegal aliens than over 300 million Americans.

I want them all sent back to where they came from because NO ONE should benefit from their own illegal act or the illegal act of another.

However, if the Dreamers are allowed to stay then they should not be giving a path to citizenship.

feelings got nothing to do with it for somebody with a brain. A kid is not responsible for the crimes of their parents. Greencard them with requirements of self dependence and good behavior and let them stay.
The matter is put to rest forever

no, he doesn't want to ... fed that meat to the base as any pol would ... what he's asking for isn't too much ... not too sure about a wall, but a country has to control its borders somehow ... pretty much the same bill bush proposed, but he was shot down by both sides ...

NO ONE should benefit from the illegal act of another person including benefiting from the illegal act of someone's parents.

If you disagree then why do you believe Dreamers should benefit from the illegal act of their parents or the illegal act of whoever helped them enter the USA illegally?

He's doing what a President should do: leave the lawmaking up to Congress.

No, you’re right. But if a parent steals a bike from my house for their kid; that doesn’t mean when the cops show up that the kid just gets to keep the bike.

some dreamer kid grew up with a brain and took your job or your wife? That why you're so triggered.

Sending them back is the one stance in all this that would cost the Republican party. If you can't 'feel' that, can't help you
