And I'm not in favor of racial sensitivity training. It's fricking condescending to all parties;
This stuff is true, people that work in settings that push this can feel uncomfortable regardless of the race of the person.

Baw said forestry management is the key to preventing fires
It is...now, federal or state land is the question... which is it
Wanna talk facts???
Sequoia trees reproduce via seed pods (think pine cones). Those seed pods are only opened by the extreme heat of fire, thus letting the Sequoia seeds disperse amongst the wilderness.
When those seeds hit the ground, they find an environment rich in nutrients and without competition. The reason the soil is rich in nutrients and without competition is because the fire has reduced overgrowth and invasive species to ash. This allows the seeds to germinate without any obstructions. With all those nutrients returned to the soil, the seeds find themselves in an environment rich in nutrients.
Furthermore, mature Sequoias have developed a natural fire barrier for themselves. Their bark is abnormally thick (6-10 inches) that protects the trees from the fires it needs to reproduce. Nature is awesome that way. Want Sequoias... get fire.
The problem western states have is that they have abandoned their forestry management programs in the name of some little creature nobody had ever heard about or seen. Western states are beholden to special interest groups that are always fighting for the cause of some random animal nobody has ever heard of because only 50 exist in the wild (and there's a reason for their low numbers).
These controlled burn programs are designed to eliminate invasive and excessive growth. This growth is also potential fuel for massive fires if left unchecked. There's a reason Georgia thru Texas doesnt have this problem. These states do controlled burns as a means of wildlife protection and wildlife development. Anybody who has spent a decent amount of time in the wilderness can attest to that.
California could solve quite a few problems at once by hiring from their homeless population to reestablish controlled burn programs across the state. There could be a couple hundred smaller teams employed to carry out these controlled burns, working year round. No houses and businesses being lost to fire, and less people with their hand out, begging for help. Oh yea, more Sequoias.

This particular topic is interesting to me. You have the Party of Science™ that will tell you that natural selection or Darwinism if you will is the way of the world. Over the course of millions of years, species have lived and died out being replaced by others who have evolved. Yet the same people will allow for the destruction of other fauna and flora due to mismanagement of forests to save an animal whose numbers are dwindling due to natural selection.
Who's really denying science here?

Most of the homeless are mentally ill, drug addicts, or both, they don’t want jobs.

Bet Scott Adams will be all over this tomorrow.
He was but he was pissed at Trump for missing the layup.
And I have to agree. This is completely debunked and easily pushed back, and Trump missed it.
