Probably going to offend some folks with this, but this is how I feel: I feel sympathy for Kobe Bryant's family and the family members of the other victims in this horrible tragedy. But, I also feel the same sympathy for the family members of our military, law enforcement, firefighters, and other regular Americans who suffer such a tragedy by having a family member killed. Having said that, I ask, where is the wall to wall news coverage of these soldiers, emergency providers, and firemen who are killed in the line of duty? We just lost American volunteer firefighters killed in Australia. Where is the wall to wall news coverage for these heroes?

Fox did have a good bit about the firefighters.
Nothing like this of course. It's all they have shown since it was announced.

This argument has been going on since the birth of modern celebrity with the rise of of newspapers and mass education/reading 200 years ago. Movies/radio/TV only exacerbated it.
Why even bring it up at this point? Nothing is going to change. Firemen will not be paid more than movie stars.

I can appreciate your sentiments. Without a doubt, we pay more attention to the loss of some than is warranted, and vice versa.
I haven't followed to the NBA in probably 25 years. It is literally meaningless in all ways to me; of no consequence. I know very little of Kobe Bryant, so this tragedy is lost on me.. but I am sorry for the loss of anyone involved, including him.

I blame it on willful blindness.

Jeffrey Guterman couldn't get laid if he was the only dude in a crowded whorehouse with a fistful of Ben Franklins (and even I could pull that off).
There, I said it.
There, I said it.

Guterman may be the first blue check that I pissed off so bad he went to the trouble of blocking me, following a comment I made on one of his tweets.
