No it is not his ultimate goal. Have you read the 301 investigation? If you have not you are not education on the subject and are only dreaming about what the goals are.
Here is the investigation result and directives directly from Trump: LINK
Nowhere in there does he state his intent is to frick over China until America has an advantageous imbalanced trade deal.
You’re purely making an assumption based solely on your anti-Trump/pro-China bias.
That investigation was clearly for the purpose of creating valid rationale for the tariffs, as it explicitly declares. The tariffs which, again, Trump has publicly stated many times are designed to create leverage and force China to the table to eventually and hopefully come to an equitable trade deal.
Man, you are so dishonest and pathetic. WTF is wrong with you?

How did you read that and say it supports this statement you made:
There is nothing in the directive to support that statement. That link you provided is Trump's summary of the overall investigation and you should note:
1) nothing is in there about buying more stuff from the USA (a mention is made in the full report but it is sort of brushed off as you can see in your link)
2) nothing is in there that pertains to IP or forced partnerships in the USA--it is extremely important to US multinational companies to get more IP protection in China and end the requirements for forced partnerships in CHINA. Number 1 and number 2 in the memo deal with that. Now if they do not do business in China they don't have to worry about do they?? How does any of that mean more jobs in the USA?? IT DOESN'T.
3) he talks about China investing in US companies to steal stuff (if they own it how is it stealing) but nonetheless he is addressing that with current US law and that has little to do with the tariffs. In the letter in your link he outlines the directive to use existing executive power to address those investments in section 3. This part is not a tariff issue.
You really are reaching to describe the directive as supportive of your statement.
I applaud your efforts as being the best effort of the Trumpians that attack me to try to understand the actual issue. You can see all this talk about jobs and the trade deficit is really just talk that has little to do with the actual negotiations.
It should be apparent to you now that this trade war is mostly about protecting US companies doing business in China and creating a more favorable climate in China for US businesses. I personally feel Americans should not be punished with taxes to accomplish these changes in China. There are a lot of countries with IP issues and more extreme limits on financing than China and US companies should consider those things before investing there.
Now you are welcome to point out just what you think it is that I have said is intellectually dishonest.
This thread I remind you is about the very inaccurate tweet the POTUS made. You should admit that too--why not? you do posting reputation no good denying it.

If Trump could get it so that it's equally as economical for US companies to manufacture and produce products in the US and then export them to foreign countries as it is to manufacture and produce in those foreign countries, would you still argue against this?

quote:I didn’t say it supports that statement. Try quoting where I did. It doesn’t exist.
How did you read that and say it supports this statement you made:
I clearly said the 301 investigation created valid rationale for the use of tariffs. Trump explicitly says in the memorandum that he is authorizing certain tariffs because of the result of the investigation, which he also details.
You do realize China broke a shite ton of trade rules, right? You claim you know what’s in the 301 investigation but it sounds like you either don’t really, or you are just willfully ignoring China’s infractions so you can wrongly shite on the tariffs, as if there aren’t valid reasons for them and acting like Trump is just doing them on a whim.
Wrong. There are valid reasons for the tariffs in addition to Trump also using them as leverage.
What supports that quoted statement is Trump himself saying many times that his intent is to force China to the table to negotiate an equitable trade deal and even hopefully reach a point where nobody has any tariffs.
You know what’s become apparent? Is when you get your arse handed to you in a debate you start twisting shite like this and like when you falsely put words in my mouth earlier in the thread after I showed you how insignificant China’s FDI is with us, and then you pull the 301 investigation out of your arse to try and paint it as something it wasn’t. Busted and made you look stupid on all accounts.
You got issues. Get some help, or just choose to stop being an anti-American Chinese shill who isn’t half as smart as he tries to act.

What did you say again?? What in your post is the ultimate goal if not what a I quoted? What did I miss?

Trade rules?? What in the hell are you talking about? They are a sovereign country free to do what they can support among nations just as the USA is.
You do realize that the president has limited power to tariff and that the 301 tariffs are to be used to address the issues raised in the investigation? I don’t care what he says as we all know as the OP illustrates he says a lot of shite that is not quite true. Trump told us we would have wonderful new healthcare too then he realized Congress would have to pass it.
I haven’t twisted anything. You are just disappointed that someone pointed out to you how this works and it doesn’t fit your perception of what the trade war is about.
I doubt you will ever hand my arse to me in a debate and you certainly have not tonight.
I sat through two days of tariff hearings and actually listened to Lighthizer explain the process AND explain the limits of the executive branch in trade wars. (Congress has given the President too much of its constitutional authority to tariff and tax with the 232 tariffs and the 301 tariffs)

Trade rules?? What in the hell are you talking about?
CHINA JOINED THE WTO!
You know that.
THE WTO HAS RULES.
You know that.
CHINA HAS ROUTINELY BROKEN THOSE RULES.
You know that.
quote:No.
I haven’t twisted anything.
Knowingly duplicitous statements really aren't "twisted".
They are straight up lies.

It's because a majority of the trumpanzees are stupid and that's the best they can do.
