Odds on Musk saying "I didn't realize H1B was unpopular, we won't do that" and tweeting "vox populi, vox dei"?

Or is that only when Congress removes restrictions on investments in China from bills?

Musk's position is understandable. Silicon Valley and the Canada tech industry is full of Asians and Indians already, there is a heavy Indian population in Austin and Dallas. And the number of Indian students is rapidly growing.

Trump plans to give them all green cards upon graduation to keep the talent in the USA instead of returning to India.

a 30 year old CEO of a $9 billion AI startup was complaining to Musk about his lack of a green card, Musk promised to fix it. Why wouldnt CEO want this kind of talent and cheaper than American talent?

And this kind of stuff is how Musk will cross lines he has no place for. If the guy is a billionaire with a great product he doesn't need a gren card. He can do business with America from India. We don't need him here dragging his whole dirty village with him.

If he plans on growing the economy it is necessary.

Too many people here with conflicted info. If you want the economy to run balls to the wall, you will need immigration and you'll need low cost imports.

I wonder if Trump is still going to staple green cards to diplomas.

People that are on this right now gaining traction need to tweet this question to him, and Vance, as a reminder of what he said and tell him to reconsider.

As I said earlier in this thread, this can/will be something that hurts Vance in 28. The crack that can grow for a Desantis to take advantage of. Vance better make sure he seals it up and permanently repairs it.

If H1Bs weren't abused we wouldn't have full take over of cities by Indians in less than a 15yr period.

Low cost imports, at least to a degree, will be beneficial.
Immigration, though, is a resounding NO. Failures to address immigration will lead to the end of this nation.

I’d be more worried about our education system and preparing americans for stem field. H1B is a symptom of the issue, not the cause. Treat the cause

The cause is people with advanced degrees want to make more than $35k a year...h1bs do too after getting a few years of american experience.

This one isn't on the American worker, it's on the American employer

The solution is clear. Govt needs to balance the budget and not be a jobs program.

If we want the govt to be a jobs program, the Socialists have it figured out.

I don't disagree with many of your points here, in general, but I don't think you are connecting them in a causal way. Tangential connections are certainly there, but some of them I don't see as direct causal connections.

H1B is cheap labor. We can have economic growth and tech prowess without it and independent of the ills you mention above regarding govt, even though those problems must be fixed.

If you work on a counter-factual, and take away the 'jobs program' aspect, you don't take away H1B issues. The big companies still want the cheap labor. They will still go to govt to lobby for H1B programs. So, I think the points you're making are connected but not causal or determining the situation we have before us.
