I seem to remember reports around the time the news of the existence of the memos broke that the friend was dictating portions of the memos to the press.
The May 11 story only sources to "conversations"

no, apparently you're completely hung up on the "memo" as a sticking point to whether what comey did was in response to trump's tweet or not.

Emailing a copy of the memo ain't leaking the memo either. Neither is reading it into a tape recorder and leaking the recording. Neither is printing up 100 copies and hanging them in the hall.
You got to take the original diary and hand it to someone to leak it bro.
