I think it's over diagnosed and for some people becomes a crutch. I see it a lot with my generation of wanting to be diagnosed with something to get some sort of social points. Or maybe just an Adderall script, idk.
I also wonder if parents in affluent areas are more willing to just tell their child they are something and it becomes that. We see it with the trans stuff.
And there are benefits that come with being disabled and that gets abused.
