Of course Trump is being criticized by the left for not doing enough as far as coronavirus response. However, he has tacitly gone along with almost all of their wishes. He did leave most things up to the states as far as shutdowns(which I don’t necessarily disagree with). But overall he has not had the guts to come out and say the truth, which is that this thing is way overblown by the media. He has not condemned Governors enacting things like mask mandates under the guise of “emergency powers.” He also did not stand up against the $600 a week added unemployment from the federal government. 2016 Trump would have called it like it is. Many would have absolutely hated and ridiculed him to no end(which they do anyway), but many would have respected and felt refreshed to have someone not acting like a typical politician.

Yeah, that's why the democrats like him so much. Yep, that's it.

It's election year. Trump is talking to the middle.

What is he doing though?

Certain coronavirus rhetoric has absolutely become a part of political correctness. It’s politically incorrect to say this thing is overblown by the media and a complete overreaction. 2016 Trump shite on political correctness and it went a long way in helping him win the election. He is playing not to lose this time around.

Leaving things up to the states is one of the most conservative/libertarian things he could possibly have done. Nationwide mandates trample on the rights of everyone.

At least this way, each state is able to assess their situation and act accordingly.

I’m assuming you understand the concept of federalism.

Within that framework, what - specifically - should he have done differently?

Nah. At a white house press conference they showed a video of the media overreacting to all things chinese plague to the point they were furious and tried to say it was a campaign video.

That's when they decided to stop airing the briefings lol

Yes but he has not even verbally condemned mask mandates nor did he stand against the $600 unemployment added from the federal government. He has time to tweet about Bubba Wallace but won’t condemn Governor ordered mask mandates.

He should have made it known he wasn’t going to sign the stimulus with the $600 a week federal unemployment added. It was easy to see what that was going to lead to. But overall it’s about his rhetoric, he is scared to say that the whole thing has been blown out of proportion. Like I said, he has an opinion on NASCAR, but will not condemn masks mandates and the overall general hysteria and abuse of power going on across the country.
