Why not? In what possible situation would you or I have to worry about cops having this gear? I mean if you are someone who plans on pulling shite like Antifa or rioting and looting for some reason you have a good reason to be worried but for normal people it’s no biggie.

Does the public have access to this same gear?
If not, it is wrong and nothing our founding fathers imagined seeing take place.
Law abiding citizens deserve to have the same protections that our public funded servants are afforded.

How about situations where the government becomes totalitarian? Or anytime a socialist or communist government has taken control? You see all the people screaming for socialism & communism in the US. Why do think they won't ever gain control & use the police to silence political opponents? We are already seeing liberal mayors & governors ordering police to stand down while the useful idiots create havoc. It's not much of a step to start ordering the cops to attack the conservative groups.

Yeah I'm sure it is police union money and not the public wondering why the town next door has an aircraft carrier and we don't......
There is no need to complicate this issue.....folks like the idea of their town getting a tank for free because criminals are every where and gonna get us all......only after the idiot cops accidentally stick the snout of said tank through the wrong window do the citizenry begin questioning the wisdom of Barney fife having a weaponized drone to monitor school crossings......
