He was a terrible conservative
Wrong!! he was a moderate in many ways who appealed to the masses, not the bombastic, narcissist that Trump is. He won almost every state in '84 but Minn. cause he didn't campaign there on purpose to allow Mondale his home state.
Vance is looking more & more appealing for '28. A level headed common sense conservative. I wasn't so sure at first

Buddy, Ronald Reagan beat an incumbent democrat, and beat him handily. Then he whipped the second biggest problem facing America - stagflation - and launched a 40 year explosion of growth that saw American wealth - across the board - grow rapidly. He next won reelection with just short of 60% of the vote and 49 of the 50 states electoral votes. In his second term he solved the biggest problem facing America, defeating worldwide communism and relegating the USSR to “the ash heap of history”.
Ronald Reagan left office so popular, after eight years as President, that his Vice President was easily elected, making a 12 year run of Republican dominance.
Problems emerged from the changes that Ronald Reagan made. These problems were not very well addressed by future administrations, and in fact, they exacerbated them. Very few of these can be laid at Ronald Reagan’s feet. It was an exemplary Presidency.
