Dems recently completed that journey with the MIC.
It could be that both groups are simply traveling on the opposite end of a mobius strip.
The journey back begins again.

I get it’s a figure of speech, obviously. BUT, most of those middle management positions will be automated by AI software as well.
Were you gonna go once that happens? Most large corporations are already making this move.

and Trump has come out favorably for AI and for crypto, they were his biggest donors.
Looks like a collision course.

This sounds more like Trump is negotiating. Drawing the Longshoremen in by voicing support for their position is not a bad thing. As others have stated, the main inefficiencies at the ports isn’t automation, it’s container space and rail logistics. Given time, the automation will happen out of necessity. In the meantime, support by the president for the labor force may help keep them on the job. Like any negotiation, let things play out and see where this goes.

Probably start my own business doing photo tours.
I learned to do a lot of things (carpentry, welding, drafting, photography, public speaking, teaching, etc) so I would never be pigeonholed into one career.
Futurists envision a world where machines do our work, and we all will be gig workers living on a stipend, plus whatever we bring in via gigs.

I’m guessing he didn’t get Elons opinion on this. Automation is inevitable in every sector of our economy. It doesn’t have to be all at once and it doesn’t have to be a matter of mass unemployment. There can be a shift over time to more efficient methods of (insert process here). This, however, is not totally unexpected. You don’t build as many buildings in NYC as Trump has without maintaining good relationships with the unions.

He seems confused. On one hand trying to cut inefficiency, on the other hand promising to be more inefficient.

Well, if that’s all true then you have my respect.
However, we’re not all created the same, intelligence included. I think keeping a large segment of the low IQ populace employed is essential for the continuation of a stable society.
Otherwise, you’ll have to subsidize their unemployment with UBI or some other big government horse shite that we all end up paying for.
Let’s be real here, the average laid off joe in lower middle class employment will be too lazy, dumb, unmotivated to further their skill set in a marketable way.

If we were smart, we would let these bloodlines die out.
We keep saving them, and they are the ones who keep breeding.

Yea, but eugenics is illegal, and there are more rabbits than wolves.
Best to keep them producing.
