I think a lot of people view self deportation from an American viewpoint.
The vast majority of these people came over in the last few years, and have no roots. You start pressuring them about coming to work, going to the grocery store, thinking if they are picked up they lose the f-150 and the big screen TV and all their stuff and are put in a cell to be deported.
Or they pack up their shat, go home, and live to fight another day.
Think of it as you going off to school, its a temporary thing, its not your true home. If you had all that hassle you would just go back home.

Unbiased deporting based on their legal right to be here...not on their political leaning. That indicates consistency in enforcement by ICE.
