I just don't know how many more years we're supposed to stick around to train a bunch of hash smoking, child molesting, illiterate morons that have zero interest in the job beyond the paycheck that comes to them every 6 months because their senior command is stealing the money before it gets to them

To be fair, they eventually got their act together, as much as they could. This article detailing the Battle of Mosul is gripping. LINK

I mean that's great and all. But they couldn't(or wouldn't) have done it without our air support ans SOF guys and the Iranians backing them up.

I'm sure the next extremist group of the week will come along and frick everyone up again soon but I don't think there's anything we can do to stop it that doesn't involve keeping troops there indefinitely.

The only way you win in Afghanistan is to kill them all. Apparently our commanders don't have the necessary appetite for war to achieve victory.

Oh I know. I just wanted a chance to post that article, as it's legitimately great war journalism.

It can be avoided, but it would take a judicious central government in Iraq, which I'm not sure they have yet.

You don't win in Afghanistan. It's been that way for a thousand years
