Direct democracy is a terrible idea. Look at California with their ballot initiatives.

Good, because attending a university should not be the qualifier for voting. Nothing I see from congress would suggest to me that Maxine Waters or Devin Nunes are smarter than the average American.

One of the smartest people I ever knew was my old grandfather, he dropped out of school in the 8th grade. Uneducated , yes. Smart? Yes.

OMG you should have seen how proud he was when his grandson graduated from Princeton. I miss that old coot something fierce.

We have the technology to do it now.

we cant even take 1 step towards a f*cking Voter ID card

People have already figured out how to hack and stack the deck for American shitty Idol. How in the hell are we going to get to referendum votes by the gen pop, without rampant unabashed fraud?

But actually doing what they suggested? Not if it's inconvenient.

Sounds like religion. Founding fathers were anti-bank, anti-standing army, anti-corporatism...

If you believe this then you might as well throw away Representative Democracy too because whether you vote for a politician or the legislation then neither is safe based on your premise. Your response is therefore an excuse and an attempt at diversion.

The awful awful truth is a great number of Americans are flat out morons who should NOT have ANY say in our government.

Let's be honest on that point.

You injected the notion of technology. To which, I am assuming you're advocating for some sort of 'vote on things from home' type scenario. Great in theory, not at all realistic in execution.

neither

As a country we cannot even agree to issue voter ID cards to thwart fraud. How could we come to terms on fraud-free home e-voting?

Tell me - what technological advancement are you proposing that can stem the tide of political parties?
