re: Tim Temple- Louisiana Insurance Commissioner - Deep Thoughts

I spoke to Tim a few times over the past few months and really hope he can figure things out. But it’s going to take a new governor, a legislature that understands there is a crisis here, and plaintiff lawyers who need to come to the table. They’ve gotten extremely wealthy in this state by suing insurance carriers so much so that right now, there are maybe 2 or 3 carriers writing commercial auto in Louisiana. Say what you will, that is the #1 problem in our state regarding insurance (property coverage is a close second, but we cannot control weather). Companies are relocating, going out of business, or selling off their fleets because they cannot afford to do business here. Why are our neighboring southern states growing while we are shrinking our population? Nobody wants to move their company to a judicial anti-business hellhole.

I think most know this, but just in case, Temple has already won the race for lack of qualified candidates.
Generally, he is very pro-market and anti-regulations.
