After reading multiple news sites it is obvious now that this strike was meant as an attempt to help reverse the tide in Syria over the last couple of months.

What we have seen in the last couple of months is Syria and Russia winning the war against the opposition rebels and ISIS through the Kurds in the North with help from American coalition forces.

Recently Rebels have cried for help as they were being defeated in Aleppo and elsewhere.

How far will we go to give these rebels the chance to turn the tide back in their favor? How can they win when Russia is operating out of multiple sites on the ground in Syria themselves?

There seems no logical end to this except full out confrontation by allied forces against syrian forces helped by Iran and Russia.

Little pop-shots won't turn the tide in the Rebels favor when Russia has such a stronghold within Syria on the ground.

I don't see the logic to firing at this airbase just because they may have used chemical weapons. If it was a military maneuver it would be done with some type of benefit to the troops on the ground fighting.

Then it was a massive failure.

McCain has stated that he sees room for more U.S. action and his buddy LG said he wants to take out Assad's air force. Drain the swamp or something...

Hurting Assad helps the rebels we like, and it also helps ISIS & AQ.

I watch Fox, CNN and NBC. I read a lot from prominent journalists and analysts from around the globe. I've yet to read any kind of logical end game that is really a win for the US in Syria.

Then it was a spanking? Discipline?

We playing daddy warfare now?

I don't for one minute buy into the fact we did this as just a spanking alone. It had some measure of true military action to win a conflict. He is surrounded by Generals in his cabinet and they all figured this to be just a disciplinary action?

No, that is absurd. This was meant to be a sign of force against Assad and the willingness of America to help out when Obama wouldn't help the Rebels.

THIS^^^

I have also searched for a logical endgame and yet to see one. The elite do not want Assad in power even if it means peace in the region because of energy and NATO. They would rather have ISIS bringing chaos. We all know ISIS isn't a real threat. They are a joke, but we allow them to be a threat or seem a threat for various purposes already hashed out.

They will deal with ISIS softly as they have done with Al Qaeda over the years for obvious reasons.

Assad is the real threat to the elite. He is the major focal point, not ISIS. So, I realize eventually this will turn ugly as something has to give..

Or, we may just be wasting money for decades along with Russia and other nations fearing an inevitable major conflict that could result in something far worse.

It wasn't even that. It was a slap on the wrist. We gave the Syrians an hour warning. They moved equipment. They evacuated. They knew we were coming. This was a very measured show of force. Far more show than blow.
