He has been great in Florida but has been a massive failure campaigning nationally. He doesn’t understand the MAGA movement at all and has zero shot at winning the nomination because of it. I was hopeful for him but the more it goes along the more his true colors are showing.

In fact, if there was one criticism of the Desantis campaign it was that he didn't go after Trump enough. To me, there was no sense in trying to navigate around the sensitivities of MAGA because MAGA is never going to vote for anyone but Trump.
But there are enough non-clowns out there that Desantis should have been doing this from the get-go.

No. You don’t. I vociferously defended Trump as President and voted for him in 2020.
I thought he was a horrible candidate in 2016 for all the same reasons I think he’s a horrible candidate now. And his supporters are the lowest common denominator folks who take a headline and build a personality around it.
