Its been 6? Long years

quote:

The Commerce Department said Tuesday that GDP expanded at a surprisingly strong 5.0 percent annual rate in the third quarter—the fastest pace since the third quarter of 2003.

quote:

This year's convincing job gains are boosting consumer confidence and—more importantly—helping to shore up household finances. Americans continue to pay down debt, which together with low interest rates has helped reduce the cost of paying off mortgages, car loans and other forms of borrowing. Lower borrowing costs have helped boost savings.

So, no double dip recession...

Jobs seem to be plentiful...

This minimum wage thing seems to be a slick way of pumping more money back into the economy...

But there is still that pesky job pariticipation rate number...

quote:

Millions of discouraged workers have given up looking for a job, and wage gains have been sluggish for those who have one

Has no relation to the economy.

And the economy has been back for a few years now.

That job participation number is not bad for people who are knowledgeable about the topic. People need to learn skills needed today to participate in the job market today.

Employers don't pay people just to make sure they are employed. You don't add some sort of value, you don't have a job.

No doubt. Really irrelevant and the economy has definitely been back for several years now.

Hope I'm wrong

Amazing what you can do when you delay the worst parts of a bad law by 5 years.

As well as the energy regs that will cause electricity bills to "skyrocket. "

No idea what you are talking about but I'm sure it is something along the lines of some Obama law or policy will wreck the economy soon, blah blah. Same as for the past several years.

It is Obama's fault, his policies are destroying the economy, etc.

When does Obamacare employer mandate go into effect?

That's right...1/1/15

Greenhouse gas regs?

Next year (2015).

Feel free to suck Obama's dick. The economy is doing what it is doing despite him, not because of him.

My question is, if the economy is back then why did the country just hand democrats such a large defeat?

You're not supposed to ask questions like that. You need to fall in lock step with Dear Leader and know that he has your best interest at heart.

It wasn't large, it was huge.

It sounds like you are a skeptic then. I wasn't trying to make this a left versus right thing, but should've known better.

So then, give us your reasons why the economy is not back...? That zombie employment participation rate number? That thing just won't go away.

I love humor threads. We just don't have enough of them though. Appreciate the chuckle just the same.

Not entirely. The amount of regulations and taxing direct and indirect he and his band of thugs put in place have definitely affected the economy in the most negative of ways.

Honestly wish the Fed would raise rates some and slow down the economy some. Been saying this for a couple of years now actually. Mostly due to soaring real estate prices again.

but it could have been better and quicker.

Lots of jobs out there now. People need to jump back into the pool. Many have given up bc they didn't have the knowledge of how/where to search for their skill set or desire. Nows the time to restart.

Ah, remember the good old days when Harry Reid labeled these sorts of jobs as "McJobs?"
