Ah, there it is.

The brash, and unfounded, sense of superiority, and the compunction to tell other people how to live their lives.

For what purpose? You can’t just sweep history you don’t like under a rug, no matter how hard you try. Today it’s statues. Tomorrow it’s city names. After that it’s scrubbing slave owning presidents from history books. Where does it end? Until snowflakes are satisfied?

Virginia is different.

It may be the slow creep of the DC suburbs into Virginia, that meant we were dealing with the issue first. But it probably also has something to do with the culture here.

We’re polite, sure, but we’re also underhanded and know how to punch back.

Richmond wasn’t going to let a lot of transplants decide an issue like this. So they wrote and passed the bill before Alexandria had an inkling.

It will never end, because they are not at war with the South or the Right or History or America. They are at war with nature. They are at war with themselves.

Seems to be offensive to many. Only reasons I hear for keeping it have to do with great white men or not wanting change.

I don’t care if it offends you.

You’re not one of us, and so you don’t have the right to an opinion.

Yawn. It has nothing to do with telling other people how to live their lives. You find a statue that rubs a bunch of people the wrong way and people in that town don't particularly really give a shite about.....seems like taking itbdowb has nothing to do with you. I mean do you really care about the statue without people taking it down, or is it really just hate for giving in to certain folks?

The fact you think you get to define how "decent" people officially think indicates you're way less decent than you think you are.

Until you come to terms with your own bigotry you may want to stop lecturing people on theirs.

The Confederates were Americans.

Funny how twitdicks today get worked up about the CSA more than the people that actually fought against them.

General Robert E. Lee was, in my estimation, one of the supremely gifted men produced by our Nation. He believed unswervingly in the Constitutional validity of his cause which until 1865 was still an arguable question in America; he was a poised and inspiring leader, true to the high trust reposed in him by millions of his fellow citizens; he was thoughtful yet demanding of his officers and men, forbearing with captured enemies but ingenious, unrelenting and personally courageous in battle, and never disheartened by a reverse or obstacle. Through all his many trials, he remained selfless almost to a fault and unfailing in his faith in God. Taken altogether, he was noble as a leader and as a man, and unsullied as I read the pages of our history.

Quite the General and Commander who said that.
