From the data you posted earlier in this thread, over the last ten years the number of violent victimizations of white people from households earning $75K or better has gone from 758K in 2015 to 1.76 million in 2024.

In the vast majority of cases, the first crimes are minor.

This is the basis of broken windows theory.

Prosecute minor crimes to prevent perps from advancing their careers.

72 hours execution if caught with certainty. No mental health or drug/alcohol excuses. Firing squad in a public setting.

What happened in the 1960s

The baby boom came of age. Lots of young people in the prime age for committing crimes.

I think some of the things you list were factors. Others probably weren’t.

Another factor is that for the first time ordinary people had time on their hands. Before that you had to work hard just to survive.

The government drastically remade it's contract with the citizens.
Without that you will not have this uniquely high crime spree.

Great Society 101.

The welfare boom.

One could exist without working, idle hands.

No doubt that had something to do with it. I just think demographics had more to do with it.

We have even more welfare now but much lower crime rates. Demographics.

We have had demographic change before, nothing was like that.

Drugs definitely played a part, heroin boomed due to Vietnam, Crack was a new problem.

Reagan, Clinton, Giuliani etc...

The era of loose criminality was ended.

NRA started backing gun rights right after the 68 gun bill.

People realized there was a problem and adjusted.

War on drugs had some positive impacts.
