Why does it only compare 2017 vs 2016, what was 2016 like compared to other years? Ignoring 2016, what does 2017 look like overall?

This is why the media sucks. They just write for headlines and "gotchas"

"Losing 55 million" is the headline when really it means "down 55 million from 2016" but doesn't given any context to where 2016 donations rank historically.
