The Next time You Wonder "what is wrong with people!?"

Honestly, i submit that social media is what is wrong with people
And it's only going to get worse
Some are worse than others, but we all are prone to succumb to the effects. Here's why.
20-30 years ago almost EVERYONE had people they thought of as good friends that were political opposites. And, when we talked politics with someone not like us, it was usually with those friends because who else??
Sure. It got contentious on occasion. But LOL. Do you think those conversations looked remotely like what you see people do on this board? The net effect is, even if you rhetorically demonized your opponents, you had routine direct experience with people you liked who thought differently than you. They were GOOD people!
Now. Virtually no one has IRL generally cordial political discussions with friends. Instead, virtually all of people's political interaction is via keyboard and a substantial amount of that is anonymous. Anonymity is a hell of a testosterone booster.
Really. It wouldn't be so bad but now it's bleeding into real life too!

Things are different IRL, your words and manner are more carefully chosen because if not,
someone might ask you to leave the dinner party, or worse, punch you out.

And. Even absent overt reaction, IRL, when you call someone fat, you are PRESENT for the human reaction. Most people are conditioned to not like causing that.
Like i said though. Sadly, i think we're losing that conditioning IRL too now!

I remember as a tyke when computers first started making a toehold into our lifestyles. There were more than just a handful of people saying computers are the mark of the devil. Hmmm.
