• may = modal auxiliary (expresses possibility)
• be = main verb
So the structure is:
Subject + may be + complement
• Subject: The New York Times
• Verb phrase: may be
• Complement: the worst of MSM
Meaning: It is possible that the New York Times is the worst of mainstream media.
If you used “maybe” instead, the sentence would have to be structured differently:
• Maybe the New York Times is the worst of MSM.
Both convey possibility, but grammatically they function differently.

Correct forms:
• ? The New York Times may be the worst of MSM.
• ? Maybe the New York Times is the worst of MSM.
Incorrect form:

I abandoned the MSM back in 2020. All they want to do is inflame you so you will tune in tomorrow or the next show coming up. Doesnt matter what side of an arguement you are on. They both do it.
