re: The Misconception That Air Supremacy Has Been Achieved Over Iran

So the article makes the claim that Iran is really big, and there are areas with air defenses that US and Israel have not seen strategically necessary to initiate air superiority
So?
So?

The US and Israel are conducting one of the best displays of military aerial might in history. It’s 6 days old and you want to piss on it because we haven’t neutralized a couple sand holes in the east.
He can speak for himself of course, but how in the hell do you get that he is pissing on what's happening? I didn't read it that way at all.

Next he’s going to write an article about the sun coming up in the east and Murphdog will be sure to post it here

Okay brief us on radial error rate and circular error of probability of current airborne munitions

I could be mistaken and if so I apologize.
I felt his take on Petraus’s opinion was a bit arrogant and I may be carried away.
There seems to be a lot of pissing on by a lot of armchair experts around here today. Perhaps I just need to take a break.

You are as dumb as the guy that wrote that article. I do avionics and modifications. So I've built the computers in those weapons, wired the pylons, aircraft and aircraft avionics for them. Then ops checked them and trouble shot and fixed them when they didnt work correctly. I've done that for 26 years. Your experience was again?

Anyone who deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan could have told you that the tactics that had some success in Iraq wouldn't work in Afghanistan.
Anyone who spent time with the Afghan security forces could have told you that pinning that mission's success on the Afghan army was a fool's errand.
Petraus was busy banging his mistress in Baghram instead of getting outside and talking to troops who were actually doing the fighting to figure these things out.
For anyone who doesn't know, the tan and maroon berets were Afghan Army Special Forces and Commandos. These guys were the best Afghanistan could produce and they still weren't good. As frustrating as it was to work with the ANA SF and ANA Commandos, I really felt for the guys who had to train and work with the regular ANA and ANPs.
Again, this was obvious to all of us. Petraus didn't see it though.

Ah. I see what you're saying. I thought you were referring to his OP. My bad.
A lot of folks don't like Patreus very much.

Sounds like both you and the writer of the article have an ax to grind with Petraus (assuming that’s who he is “disputing”) . Also sounds like it has very little to do with what’s happening in the skies over Tehran right now.
If you’re both trying this hard to make the point that we don’t have air supremacy, yet, you may want to consider why that point needs to be made

You weren’t wrong and gave me a chance to reflect on my tone.
I get that a lot of people don’t like Petraus. I’m not exactly a big fan. But just because the guy got carried away with the term supremacy doesn’t mean we need to write, post and advocate for articles that are much ado about nothing.
