The minute you start talking about the things law can legitimately protect against you are making rights claims.
It becomes a right because the law gave protections.
Before the law was created, there was no need to even conceive of a right.
Laws are the framework of authority.
Without authority, how would the concept of rights be conceived. Authority exists without rights, but rights cannot even be conceptualized, but against the backdrop of Authority. Nobody thought they had a right to something, until their access to it was threatened by authority.
