Amazing that a French author of travel books could write such a prescient book in 1973.

Only thing he got wrong was the size of the initial flotilla and the speed of the fall of the West. Otherwise, he nails it.

His representation of those Westerners that support and enable the events is spot on - especially the arrogant self-loathing that what was happening (and would happen) was "deserved" by the West.

Sadly, there are many like that out there (Mayor of New York and the new congressional candidates, for example - but also a vast swath of so-called intellectuals).

It's creepy to read it and realize it was written 50+ years ago. Raspail certainly saw what was coming.
