Looks like some Israeli settlers have taken revenge by killing a 16 year old Palestinian boy. There is no moral high ground in that region.

quote:

The body, which was charred and bore signs of violence, was found an hour after police were informed of a youth from Shuafat being forcefully loaded into a car.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the “despicable murder” of the Palestinian teenager and “asked the investigating authorities to work as quickly as possible” to find out who was behind it and what their motivation was, a statement from his office said. The prime minister urged all sides not to take the law into their own hands, the statement said.

There is no excuse. From all indication, they wanted the ship to sink without any survivors so the attack could be blamed on Egypt, knowing it would most likely provoke a nuclear response by the U.S. Problem is...they failed to sink the ship and there were survivors.

Sadly, even when confronted with the truth about our past dealings with Israel most Americans choose not to accept it. Americans will dislike an entire nation because they are Muslim, but will go to the ends of the earth to justify the daggers that Israel has delivered to the backs of its "allies" time and time again.

In fact the general hate that Americans have towards Muslims is not unlike the hatred and mistrust that have been traditionally leveled against the Jews. I suppose the tables have turned.

Sad state of affairs.

The Israeli military is also getting in on the revenge by raiding, pillaging and demolishing Palestinian homes as collective punishment for the settler murders. There's a big difference between individual rogue Israelis and Palestinians engaging in this sort of behavior and a government doing it.

EDIT: If Netanyahu had any leadership, he would calm the tension rather than escalate it. Last week was the 50th anniversery of the Mississippi Burning murders of Chaney, Goodman and Schwerner. If LBJ had used Bibi's approach, he would have ordered the FBI and the Army to terrorize and demolish the homes of all the White folks of Neshoba County as retribution for the murders.

Actually, I'm no great fan of many of Israel's actions, and still have no love for most Muslim countries (kinda liked Jordan). You can easily dislike both.

Are you familiar with the shameful way that the ship commander was treated when he was awarded his Congressional of Honor? It's sickening and the media was complicit in the whitewash, because even when the Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff publicly cried foul, there was no reporting of it in the media.

There's much more to it than that. A lot of good men died that day. Many more died bitter because their govt basically told them to sit down and STFU when they raised any objections to the findings of the multiple inquiries.

The Liberty is one historical anecdote that always comes to mind whenever one of this board's histrionic schoolgirls go off on a "ZOMG this is the worst thing government has ever done EVER!!!" tangent. It helps to remember that most simply lack any historical perspective.

ETA: Saw that you only responded to the second half of my post. That part is standalone. Nothing further required.

Generally speaking, I hate religious fundamentalist fanatics of all stripes. The problem on this board is that many, if not most, folks only hate Islamic fundamentalist fanatics, while turning a blind eye at the Jewish fundamentalist fanatics who run the government of "our closest ally". As a matter of fact, you don't even have to be a fanatic in order for folks like Revelator or Vols to hate you, you just have to be Muslim, Black or Brown.

Navy can speak for himself, but can you think of anything more treacherous that has ever been done to us by an ally?

I'm not certain but I believe that in William Stephenson's book, "A Man Called Intrepid", he points out that Churchill perhaps was responsible for removing the escorts for the Lusitania as the ship entered British waters. Its sinking led to the U.S. entering the war.

Anyway, if true, that's really screwed up.

For anybody interested in reading books of this nature, it's a great one.

Given time I'm sure I can dig some up.

But the Liberty is always the first one that comes to mind.

The fact that we completely let them get away with it...is appalling.

I can't speak for Revelator, but I don't hate any of those. You're a liar, and you should be ashamed.

Okay, so tell us what's your opinion on Likud and the Israeli settler movement.

It is.

Collective hate is playing evil's collective game...a psychological paradox of sorts, and the Nazis may have been the first to recognize and understood this dynamic better than anyone.

But as long as you're hell-bent on arming them to the teeth, providing diplomatic cover at the U.N. Security Council and doing everything in our power to support them in their war against Arabs, it is indeed our business. Not being our business would mean not giving them money, weapons or diplomatic protection.

Israel is not the reason we are at odds with Muslims. That started soon after the American Revolution.
