I didn't imply that all. I was asking why the aid to Isreal rankled peoeple when the billions we give to enemies doesn't?

Trackfan, what trait do you admire most in Islam? The way Muslim men love to rape little boys? Perhaps it's how they subjugate their women? Could be their use of women and children as human shields? I've never met anyone who served in the Navy that wasn't bothered by the handling of the USS Liberty, and as you inferred, that's only one of many instances in which they've backstabbed us. Besides Vietnam, LBJ's other shameful act was ordering the 6th Fleet to stand down when the Commander of the USS Liberty called for help while they were under Israeli attack.

Re: the original post, the insane killing in the ME is terrible. With all the hate in that area of the world, I can't think of anything much that can be said or done that will make things any better. It is sad.

Well the remarkable thing is that 99.99% of Americans have never heard of the incident. Our govt went that far to whitewash it. I didn't know about it until I saw the memorial on the wall at NMITC when I was student there.

Are you familiar with the shameful way that the ship commander was treated when he was awarded his Congressional of Honor? It's sickening and the media was complicit in the whitewash, because even when the Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff publicly cried foul, there was no reporting of it in the media.

There is no excuse. From all indication, they wanted the ship to sink without any survivors so the attack could be blamed on Egypt, knowing it would most likely provoke a nuclear response by the U.S. Problem is...they failed to sink the ship and there were survivors.
