The review process was started by 3 department heads. Gang of 8 dems sent letter requesting they not be released until they are updated. Don’t know if Sessions responded to that or ignored. Once dept heads review and remove confidential sources (people in field) or anything else that would endanger someone, they will be released. No update on time frame. Red October.

How can they redact anything? I thought the whole point of Trump’s declassification order is to release all the information in an unredacted form?

They can make redaction recommendations but Trump can say, "Nope...release all of it" and they must comply. If they don't want to comply, they can quit or be fired.

This.

But so,e redactions aren’t necessarily a bad thing. If there is an insider whistleblower, I wouldn’t have a problem with their name being redacted. Or an undercover source overseas who’s life would be endangered with their name released. I don’t expect a lot of redactions to be approved but I can see there might be a need for some.

I think Trump took into account that this would be slow played. Think I read somewhere that by the time things are ready to be released unredacted, Huber should be finished with the Hillary investigation and ghat will also be released together. Just thought we might see these documents and FISA later.

I thought that was the problem with the first release of the documents? They redacted stuff to supposedly protect sources and methods, but redacted so much that much of the information is useless. The whole point of declassifying everything is to prevent them from doing the same thing again. So, how can they now start redacting again?
