There's a lot of differences between when I grew up, and today... but this one is a huge problem. Back in my day, if you got bullied, you fought back. If you got your arse whipped, so be it (I got my arse handed to me by my bully when I was about 14, but he fully respected me for fighting back, and we became great friends after that. He died in a drunk driving accident a few years ago). If you won, so be it. But the colloquial law was that it was over right then and there. If you wanted to step up and challenge somebody, enough people would gather to make sure others didn't get stupid. NOBODY wanted a full scale brawl and NOBODY would have thought about pulling a gun.

These thugs these days would rather just pull out a gun and kill somebody than get their arse whipped or even fight back hand to hand. Pussies. Too much "pride". Participation trophy generation.
