7 days in jail, no bail and a $7K fine is outrageous. No surprise Texans are responding. I’m covering the $7K fine she had to pay and I volunteer to be placed under House Arrest so she can go to work and feed her kids.

A nice statement would be a guarantee of an immediate pardon for the first person to punch the judge in the face.

Good I guess, but if he wants to do something more than a pr stunt, then he needs to publicly ask the Governor to pardon her. Then I will give him credit for having balls.

That's what I'm asking myself. The governor has come out against the sentence, the attorney general has come out against the sentence, and now Texas's #2 has come out against it.

If they're so outraged by it, have the sentence suspended.

Volunteer to stay home for a week while his government makes everyone else stay home. Yeah, such a great commitment!!!

These politicians are falling short when it is SO easy to hit the lob out of the park right now.

Texas Republicans are painting themselves into a corner.

They are arguing that the Republican legislature giving the Republican governor power to make executive orders with the force of law is unconstitutional.

They are arguing that the Republican-issued order from the governor, based on the above, is unenforceable.

PR stunt masquerading itself as something useful. He acts like he has no power to something.

House arrest, really?

Good.

I’m not on the same page as most of the board about the virus and its seriousness, but to hell with government overreach.

Isn’t the judiciary branch intended to be the branch of government that provides a check to the executive and legislative branches? I also wasn’t aware that members of the same political parties were required to agree on everything.

And no, they’re saying the order is unconstitutional and thus unenforceable. Just because the state constitution provides the governor with certain heightened powers during times of emergency doesn’t also mean an executive order can be unconstitutional.

I’m kinda ok with this particular show. These communists need to be exposed for what they do. Otherwise they slime along unnoticed.

One more time... the order came from the Republican Governor.

what does it matter what political party he's in? Is a Republican barred from thinking an Order from a Republican governor may be unconstitutional? So, I'll ask you again, isn't it the judiciary's job to check the other branches of government, regardless of political affiliation?
