McCains tenure in the military was counter productive to what we were trying to accomplish over there.

This is what I don't get about the "he didn't join for the right reasons crowd". Nobody in the military cares why you joined. You signed the same contract and when the shite hits the fan you run the same risk of death as anyone else. News flash: most of the military didn't join because they were Cpt America and all that really matters is serving honorably. And to all the people talking shite because he made some recordings for the North Viets, everybody has a breaking point. It's actually expected that you will break under torture. If any one of you ended up in the Hanoi Hilton you'd be denouncing your own mothers before lunch.

John McCain - risked his life, earned medals, and endured POW camp for his country... before choosing to represent his state and country for the last 30 years.
