Teens charged in Royta Giles’ death were defending themselves, lawyers say

Managed to shoehorn the KKKops into this. Defendants returned fire from Montez Moses Miracle Coleman and the boy was killed in the exchange apparently. Any of our Alabama folks have insight into how this will play out?

Birmingham attorney Victor Revill represents Jackson, who he said is a graduate of Huffman High School. “He is a son, a grandson, a cousin, and a friend. This young man has never been arrested, charged, nor convicted of a crime in his young life,‘' Revill said.
Jackson, he said, was put in a position where he was forced to defend himself against “the violent actions’' of Coleman, whom he didn’t know. “Mr. Jackson has been charged with capital murder and assault for defending his own life and for refusing to be victimized by a person who clearly had no regard for human life.”
“Mr. Jackson is yet another victim of a system that maintains a blatant double standard between the actions of members of the public and actions of police officers. Instead of searching for answers and cloaking Mr. Jackson in the presumption of innocence which the law requires, law enforcement chose to arrest Mr. Jackson without gathering all of the evidence,‘' Revill said.
quote:
“While many members of the law enforcement community are given the benefit of the doubt when a shooting occurs, it is deeply disturbing that Mr. Jackson was not given the benefit of a full investigation prior to him being charged. Regardless of the assumptions being made in this case, we are confident that justice will prevail, the truth will be heard, and Mr. Jackson’s actions in self-defense will be vindicated.”

Did a girl end up dying too?
I know the little boy was the first casualty, but three others were injured as well.
I never heard the outcome of the other three.

No apology needed.
I’m just glad to hear there wasn’t a second causality.

Sounds like the same sob story that another family used for a shooting at the Galleria.
He's never been caught before.
You know, I don't care. Give him probation and require him to wear an ankle monitor. It'll make it easy for them to find the body when the community figures out he is out.

Just looked at the linked article. Was either side in this exchange white?

Probably won’t matter. If you’re busy committing a felony and someone dies, even if you didn’t pull the trigger, you’re fricked. Would imagine Bama is somewhat similar to TX in that regard

Poor guy never in trouble, was a good role model, just happened to be carrying a gun to defend himself . You can guess why he needed such gun that day but I suspect he was a pos in a pos lifestyle doing pos stuff
