Hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction. We’re having issues in the neighborhood (mostly peaceful -jk) it has to do with the roads. It was brought up by another member of the neighborhood a few months ago, and he was basically told tough shite.

frick that. I’d like to spearhead this shite without them seeing it coming.

Could someone point me in the right direction for Louisiana Municipality Petition Procedures and how to determine the number of signatures required. This would help the neighborhood directly, and the town indirectly. Thx.

Might help if you spelled out some of the details.

City Road?
County Road?
State Route?

Specific issue you're having with said road?

Not that I'm an expert but you're not giving a whole lot of info here.

Good luck.

You can’t accomplish anything with petitions because you need verified signatures of 1/3 of the registered voters in the impacted district. Go through your council person. They don’t get a lot of constituents contacting them.

If you want more help ad can give me specifics, email me at bryndenblackfish@yahoo.com

Yep. Step one is going to be figuring out who owns the road and should be responsible for its maintenance (assuming that is the issue). Once you do that, I would go directly to the city councilman, or parish council member/police juror, etc. for that area if it is a city or county/parish road. If it is a state road, start with your legislator's office or the top official for your DOTD district.

Get ready to get swallowed up by a bureaucracy like you couldn't imagine. The blame game you're going to encounter will be mind boggling.

You’re not lying.

Fellas, it’s a city road in a rural town. I can get +75% of the district to sign within a day. Leaving out details was intentional, but basically we need people to slow way down.

—> I’ve talked to 2 councilmen recently and proposed speed bumps, because it’s a short, less than 1/4mi dead end road that some folks treat as a drag strip. Open to any option that’ll have the desired result.

Not sure how to multi-quote in threads, but to the baw that dropped his email, Thanks. I’ll save it and reach out after the next meeting if need be. Appreciate all your responses.

In this case it sounds like you are on the right track, if you have high level of community agreement/participation. I’d bring the whole neighborhood to the next city council meeting, and hound your councilman’s office until you get a response.

May also be worth reaching out to the sherrif’s office or local PD to see if they could provide any speeding assistance in the mean time.

Best of luck to you.

You need verified signatures from 1/3 of the electorate of your district (which depending on what street is at issue, could be 1/3 of your parish or 1/3 of your entire state)
