You start a smear and fear campaign by accusing your opponents of treason and facsism...

And soon you are the accused and guillotined by your friends.

For Democrats today, there's no political downside to throwing both Clinton's under the bus. They have no real power to speak of in the party any more. In their own perverse minds, they're claiming the high moral ground by doing so.

The fact is, long term they likely would have been better off forcing Clinton to resign. Having Gore as president wouldn't have affected their agenda one bit, and he may have had a better chance winning in 2000 as an incumbent.

They are frantically trying to get on the 'right side' of a hysteria that they created. They can see themselves being tossed in the sewer if they don't rapidly begin rejecting the shite they themselves created. They are perfectly willing to sacrifice a few of their own to 'start the conversation.'
