The US intelligence community harbored a strong faction that wanted to discredit the GOP POTUS Bush for partisan political reasons. As such, they duped Bush into believing that Saddam had WMDs by feeding Bush incorrect intell.
Bush, having an almost religiously zealous belief in the infallibility and patriotism of the US intelligence community, believed this faction's lies and proceeded to discredit himself by acting on the false intell.
For the International Left and Democrats: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
Life Lesson: Better be careful about having trust and faith in the patriotism and infallibility of the "vaunted" US intelligence community. Clapper and Brennan aren't your average "saint".
