Before the huge propaganda campaign lately, who on this board actually believes that "Juneteenth" was some major nationally recognized and widely celebrated holiday within the black community or the population at large?

I'd only heard of it because it's a uniquely Texas thing.

I heard that President Obama, in eight years in office, spoke of "Juneteenth" publicly exactly zero times.

CNN, before May 2020 referenced it once or twice in 35+ years on air!

I first learned of it in Texas. As a (mostly East) Texas thing. My black coworkers in Alabama hadn't heard of it at the time. They didn't believe there was a holiday where everyone drank Big Red.

I would have thought the Emancipation Proclamation date would have been a bigger deal than Juneteenth, but I definitely understand why it's more celebrated in Texas. It's a big deal.
