If NATO facilities are being used to coordinate Ukrainian drone strikes (and they are most certainly are), it wouldn’t shock me if Russia escalates and targets said bases.

We, meaning the US, Britain, France and the Soviets purposefully kept the German military small .....even after the fall of the Soviet Union. Russia's greatest fear, Eastern Europe's great fear historically is a robust German military. It's really only since 2015 or so that we have started advocating for a more affirmative projectable German military.
