Just wondering, was today a real resignation, ore more like, I'm not running for reelection?

Yes it was real but he’s in his capacity until mid March I believe.

And no, he’s damaged beyond repair so no more roles other than MIC and the like

My money is on homey let Iranian surface to air missiles through a controlled check point on the Canadian border and Trump asked him at Maralago if he thought that would negatively impact his career.

That’s complete conjecture/wold arse guess though

As for all the talk of "absorbing Canada" into the US, I don't like it.

Ok, as for being able to drive to Alaska on native soil, that would be really cool. And would make transportation to/from the state less costly.

But give up American soil? I'd vote against it.
Swap. Give us their conservatives, and they get our progressives and liberals.
Everybody wins *big grin*

He has pretty much lost the confidence of his party. His party has lost popularity among the citizens of Canada (for whatever reason. Covid, inflation...) He will resign but not be gone overnight; not until another leader is selected by the party from the members of that party. The next Canadian federal elections are in Oct. of this year. The conservatives are expected to win that election, at which point the leader of the conservatives will become PM.

Because progressive policies have screwed the Canadian economy.
quote:

Fraser Institute is not alone in flagging this problem. In a recent article for the Financial Times, Ruchir Sharma, chair of Rockefeller International, identified Canada as one of the countries that has suffered a steep decline in real per-capita income growth and a drop in their share of global GDP.

A leader among the so-called “breakdown nations,” Canada’s GDP per capita has been falling 0.4 per cent a year since 2020, the worst rate among 50 developed economies.

“Widely admired for how it weathered the global financial crisis of 2008, [Canada] missed the boat when the world moved on, driven by Big Tech instead of commodities,” wrote Sharma. “New investment and job growth are being driven mainly by the government.”

It's strange how other countries have leaders resign so often. It's unheard of in America. Even with a senile old grandpa
