we know it led to the death of 1 person in Ferguson and has led to millions of dollars in damage across the country
anything accomplished?
i think we need to keep a running count, but it won't require much updating to update 0

Some people are so insecure in their own life that they need a purpose.
They believe that publicly showing everyone how much they care about a given "cause" somehow justifies their existence.
Pathetically sad really, and destructive.

I can think of 1000s of negatives. Only positive is the spotlight on the increasing police state but the boston marathon bombers did a better job of that.

Some looters got free booze and cigarettes.

I'm confused. Am i supposed to put my thoughts in this thread or Scruffy's thread?

This . Some were actually saying they liked it & felt safe. It was the ideologues who were complaining or questioning the Boston response more than the residents or general population.

Trading freedom for security isn't necessarily a good thing IMO. People have been conditioned to accept a loss of freedom for perceived security.

Looks like there is a shitload of people stuck in traffic right now in some major cities that aren't too happy about the protesters. Seems like all this is only increasing racial tension. When race wasn't even a factor in these cases.

Absolutely not & We're in complete agreement .
I was actually disappointed by those residents being happy that their communities were almost shutdown' by a force of nearly 10,000 Cops overall (that's number I heard were involved) to search for 1 nearly dead 19 year old.
And after all if the random home searches by militarized Cops, shutting down & patrolling streets with anti explosive vehicles it was a citizen who happened upon this 1 half dead guy .
I've seen enough to admit that the 'militarization of police' or police overreach is way beyond just race.

I think it took the explosion of social media and availability of technology for it to be noticed though. It was mainly seen as a racial issue for a long time, and rightly so in many instances.

If you think that mass protests all over the country just erupted spontaneously, you're kidding yourself.
What HAS it accomplished? It's served as yet another rallying cry for Marxists to stir their shite and try to spark a revolution. And now we are seeing story after story of "racist" police misconduct, all while people are still in the street from the first concocted race crime.
"We need to change the system" is the phrase they use instead of what they really mean, "we need to replace our system of government with communism." Sorry if that sounds sensational, but that's what it means. It sounds sensational because it has been made to sound that way. That's one of the plans, to laugh off the notion of "communism" as if it is a ridiculous prospect - until you have enough zombies on your side.
Occupy was too vague, as the average dumbass on the street doesn't respond to generalized complaints about Wall Street. A supposed plague of race crimes, on the other hand, provokes a very visceral response.
We elected a "community organizer" who was raised by communists, and this is what we are getting. And every splinter cell sandy butthole protest group is banding together to start shite in every corner of the country, because they all have one thing in common. Communism. Don't believe me? The "protesters" just stormed the Apple Store. What exactly the frick does Apple have to do with "racist cops?" Or Macy's?
As the Ferguson protesters chanted, "the only solution is a communist revolution." shite, it's the solution to everything, the cure for what ails ya.

I believe it appeared that way because of the War on Drugs & the obvious attention giving to high population center's (inner cities with high poor minority commnities) & Blacks/Hispanics just happen to be at the 'front lines' of that War..

i'm glad you say this. go tell your more leftist-leaning comrades about this aspect of the WOD and prosecutions of those poor-minorities

No doubt. Mid 70's-early 90's were brutal.

Before ferguson and other incidents and protests the only people speaking to the militarization of the police and the overreach were Radley Balko, Reason, Rand Paul and a few random blogs. Now it's everywhere. It's imperfect, it's messy but it does have an affect. And in this case I'll take the positive (elevated platform) with the bad being some polarization and the wrong case to kick it off. You live in a free country, it's messy, get off your high horse.

These protests are part of a larger calculated plan to spark social unrest in the country. A slow progression of social chaos justifying martial law.
