Sounds like a good deal if that's where she wants to go. If know your daughter and trust in how you raised her I wouldn't worry about any liberal indoctrination. All the people I've meet and done business with that have had Ivy League degrees have always been very friendly and easy to do business with. Nobody really cares where you went to college or even if you went at all if your money is green.

At some point, you could have an admission essay from tiger droppings feedback to send to princeton for your kid. Maybe the tigers stick together and offer a spot

If she can do it for $7K a year I say do it! Trust that you raised her right and she'll avoid being indoctrinated. You have over a year to prep her for it. Just go along, make her grades, get into med school, and be wildly successful.
That sounds like a good strategy.

Great info about the "rural vals", but if we can get back to the black kids...how many SAT points is that worth at a school like Duke or Stanford? The median SAT score for an incoming Freshman at Duke is about 1440. What would a black student with good grades (top 20%) at a good school need to score to have a good chance to get in?

This is going to get speculative and I don't think what I'm saying is nearly as reliable as the other stuff I've posted, but I'll give it a shot. Also, you are never going to get an honest answer from someone in the know, like a former admissions counselor who is now doing private counseling because they really want to keep this type of racial info private.
I believe there are only about 60 scores a year by African-Americans that are 1480 and higher. If you have one of those 60 scores, you can write your ticket anywhere.
Your proposed situation is tougher to gauge because I think the majority of African American applicants are ranked higher in their class than the top 20 percent, but their board scores are low. I think a kid In the top 3-5 percent can get in with a 1300, maybe even 1250 with good extracurriculars. Top 20 percent is tougher, that doesn't stand out at all. I would guess 1380-1400 would be a way to make that stand out.
Also, what do you mean by good school? If you mean a top name brand school in a major city, I think top 20 percent at a Westminister, St. John's, Spence, or Haverford type school would be enough right there. Forget the SAT, extracurriculars, being working class, or any other hook.
I was assuming by good school though that you meant something more like Baton Rouge High or Catholic,

Thanks Keys. I appreciate it. The high school is mostly white and Asian, with many kids going to college, and with a relatively large number of kids going to UC schools, some Ivy's, Stanford, USC, etc. It's bigger than the schools that you mention and doesn't rank as highly overall but I imagine that the top 50% at this school would at least equal the top 50% at BRHS.
I'm guessing at top 20% of the class only because it's super competitive once you get there. My kid takes mostly honors and usually gets all A's and one or two B's, but lots of kids take mostly AP (higher than honors) with similar or better grades. It could be borderline top 10%, but I'm not so sure. Certainly not top 3%, although if they went to school anywhere around here or in LAUSD they'd be top 3% for sure. If that's what you mean.
Anyway it looks like the board scores will be the key. But considering that they want a STEM major, it sounds like a good Cal State or UC school would work too.

Sounds like your kids go to a very good public school in a major city. This is just my opinion, but I think those are exactly the types of people who get hosed the most in the admissions game along with top 5 students at upstart private schools.
Being in CA though is great because the state schools (not just UCLA and Berkley) all have great networks in desirable cities. And there are so many legit schools. UCSD, UCI. UCSB, plus the big names. Of course I am very biased. I almost made a permanent move to California three times in the last 4 years.
