SIAP, ATF put out a proposal (or whatever they phrase it as) to redefine what a firearm is

ATF Website
They snuck this in last Friday night. Haven't seen it posted anywhere except on MrGunsnGear's youtube page, not even the outdoor board. Supposedly responding to the comment period can help fight off some of these ridiculous changes (see Pistol braces several months ago)

Summary
This proposed rule would:
Provide new definitions of “firearm frame or receiver” and “frame or receiver”
Amend the definition of:
“firearm” to clarify when a firearm parts kit is considered a “firearm,” and
“gunsmith” to clarify the meaning of that term and to explain that gunsmiths may be licensed solely to mark firearms for unlicensed persons.
Provide definitions for:
“complete weapon,”
“complete muffler or silencer device,”
“privately made firearm (PMF),” and
“readily” for purposes of clarity given advancements in firearms technology.
Provide a definition of “importer’s or manufacturer’s serial number”
Provide a deadline for marking firearms manufactured.
Clarify marking requirements for firearm mufflers and silencers.
Amend the format for records of manufacture/acquisition and disposition by manufacturers and importers.
Amend the time period records must be retained at the licensed premises.

The dems sure are hard up on suppressors lately and to think back in 2016, the GOP had the Hearing Safe Act and failed to bring it up to a vote that would have removed suppressors from the NFA.
Thanks to the spineless GOP inaction, suppressors get more restrictions.

Every single parts kit or upper or replacement frame made into something that you have to transfer with an FFL if buying it online or in a shitty no private transfers state is exactly what they have always wanted
Not because it will do anything
Because it sticks it to us all and becomes obscenely expensive and time consuming to deal with

That’s one thing I don’t own that I need. I’d rather use the money for another rifle or ammo, but I better go ahead and get while the gettin’s good.
