The negatives of this relationship seem to outweigh the positives at this point.

Do you know how that I know that you know nothing about business?

Mud, after reading your posts for the last couple of years, I had formed the opinion that you were perhaps not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Tonight you have proven my suspicions beyond a shadow of a doubt.

The fact that you and some other business people in the flooring industry are currently making huge profits by selling Chinese flooring vastly skews your outlook. Bully for you, but piss on the rest of us.

Much of the Chinese flooring products that have been imported in recent years have been proven to have very high concentrations of formaldehyde or involved other health risks.

We have been duped into installing some very dangerous flooring items in our homes that give off vapors that poison both us and our families.

The fact that we cannot trust the Chinese government to give the true and honest numbers of victims from the current outbreak of the most recent strain of Corona virus are the same reasons we have never been able to trust them to sell safe products to us in the past.

Historically there have been many instances of unsafe Chinese goods coming to our shores.

But, if we were to give some of the smaller, less powerful and less threatening countries just one year and the right oversight they could easily step up and produce safer products for a similar price. We would be much better off in the long run, because we would not be pouring money into the economy of a country that is a political enemy and a major threat to our well being. Perhaps we could even bring some of the manufacturing back to our shores. (I know that one might possibly be a stretch.)

We may all need to bite the bullet in the short term for big long term benefits.
Play the long game Mud. Not the short one.

Briefly making huge profits while simultaneously cutting our fellow Americans throats is not a path I will ever choose to run my business.

I'm not in favor. They are simply too large of a maunafacturing arm for the US. We can all make solid arguments that patriotism is more important. But the fact of the matter is that Americans are not going to accept higher costs for goods. I don't know of any country outside of China and Mexico that we can rely on to manufacture cheap products.

There are probably more countries with low-cost labor than there are with high cost labor.
