The other ME countries should be paying us to "protect" Israel.

They actually buy billions worth of military equipment from us each year and protect themselves. Of course, the US having their back certainly helps.

Yes, we give Israel foreign aid, but we don't also "protect" them, we have zero US troops in Israel or on their borders.
In addition, Israel is a tiny country surrounded by nations that would just as soon destroy them, or at least try to and our aid is about the only thing preventing that, which would undoubtedly lead to another world war.
Contrast that to say Germany, does anyone really believe that the Russians would attack if we didn't have troops in Germany? Of course not.

Israel would get absolutely destroyed by a unified Middle East. They would get hit from every side and wouldn't be able to hold them off. The only reason Israel exists is because we protect them. That is it. If the United States were to cut ties from Israel they would fold in 6 months and they would be invaded from all sides. Israel is a Welfare State that can't exist without money and military support from America.
