We'd have a shitload of support services with no combat arms to support. And forget SOF.

Yes With the way things are going the training and experience will be very valuable

They can get similar training with out the indoctrination from ex Special forces like Tim Kennedy , ronin , Mike Glover ect .

Well damn. Why in the hell is it okay to give the black power sign but you can’t have the Bonnie Blue hanging in your dorm. Or other flags that the military deemed racist. It’s (D)ifferent now I see.

I wouldn't want my kids in any armed forces under Biden or Ron. In fact, a DeSantis presidency will likely have boots on the ground within his first year. Northrop and Lockheed's checks are just waiting to clear.

I'll be whisking my kids off to Canada by then under the cover of darkness. No reason to sacrifice them to being IED fodder in some shithole country we have no reason being in.

No. Let enlistments continue to fail to meet goals.

I wonder if we can win a war with knocked-up E-4s, cooks and truck drivers?

It also has to do with a soldiers specific MOS or AFSC in the military. Those units or “jobs” that see more field duty including special forces! Special operations are night and day in most branches of the service. They depend heavily on each other just due to their job assignments and duties alone.

Depends. In a vacuum, probably not. But when you get "as compared to what?" involved...shrug.

If they have solid role models already and can learn a trade, no. But that's unfortunately rare these days. If not, then the military is still as good as many options and far better than other corporate paths where they'd be just as screwed for the same illegitimate reasons.

A shame, overall.

My brother, grandfather, husband, father in-law all served.

I would highly discourage any member of my family to volunteer to serve today. Especially with the current leadership that is in the Pentagon.

Myehhh, I doubt it. Very few people will subject themselves to the same level of intensity needed voluntarily over and over. Part of the military experience is that you commit to doing [X unpleasant thing/process...Ranger school, BUD/S etc] and then just stick it out. The instructors in those tend to know what your actual limits are better than you do, and how to get dudes to stretch to meet/exceed them. One could get specific skills from various sources, sure. But the mindset and toughness gleaned from making it through X training are a lot harder to come by.
