1) He claims non Christians and atheists can enter heaven by following their conscience. (he mistakenly quotes John 3:15 in doing so). To me this is pure Christian Universalism and I do not think the official teachings of the Catholic Church support this.

I don't know about the Catholic church's standpoint on this; but I do know that I have never heard a Baptist preacher say that.

FTR I am a conservative Lutheran. We are a bible based church and are not the same as the leftist liberal Lutherans.

I would guess we are close to Baptists with the main difference being in adult vs infant baptism and the accepting vs getting Grace aspect of salvation.

We would be pretty much like Catholics without the pope and bishops and the Marian elevation and purgatory and the works necessary component.

I know the liberal Lutherans have been trending toward universalism and SJW issues...it just has become noticeable recently how the RCC is trending that way also especially with the current pope. This bishop is essentially stating Christian universalism and there is a video linked on YouTube on that comments section of the pope himself implying the same thing.

Looking from the outside in this seems completely off track from original beliefs and is making me think the the RCC stances are not much stronger that the liberal Lutherans when it comes to scripture.

My feelings are that if it's a Christian Church it contains some portion of truth. Along with a portion of false doctrine. The trick is finding the Church teachings with the most amount of truth that keeps you sustained in faith in life. The liberal sects don't seem to promote much life long conviction because they teach nothing is needed to hold onto.

You, my friend, are most closely aligned to conservative Presbyterianism.
Baptists are all over the place.

My Catholic friends and I, and I have a few, have discussed this often and most good Catholics agree. Matter of fact not only do they agree, many have their own stories to tell of things they’ve witnessed.

The objective data is not in line with your friends anecdotes or the portrayal of clerical sexual abuse in media.
