Russia wants power and influence. Why do you want to help them gain it?

Is it in our best interest to become friendly partners with Russia? How is it in our best interest to help them become stronger?

It may make us feel good at first, but the stronger they become the more in danger we are.

It may feel good to not have Russia and the U.S. having these little pissing matches with each other, but from a big picture perspective, I don't trust Russia one bit.

Trust me, they are not our friend, and it's not in our best interest for them to gain power and influence.

The media and Obama administration is building Russia up into some giant boogeyman. Funny how Russia was a fly on the world's arse a year ago but now that Trump won they're the biggest threat to our freedom and way off life.

Why did Hillary want to instigate a conflict with Russia?

That may be true, but that's not the only thing at play here.

Why oppose them just for the sake of opposing them? We'll continue to oppose them when the concern is in our interest.

I don't know about Hillary's intentions.

And as for the poster above wondering why the Democrats care so much about Russia now when they didn't before, the answer is simple. It's political for them.

They said Russia wasn't a threat before because Romney and the Republicans said they were. They say they are a threat now because they think they hurt their candidate and helped Trump.

But putting all of the political bullshite aside, Russia really is not our friend and we should not want them to gain power and influence.

How are we helping them become stronger? Are we sending them billions in foreign aid or something? Maybe you should ask Hillary and Obama why they wanted to help them become stronger when they pulled out of the missile defense shield.

Why?

So having these little pissing matches does help us?

Neither do I? I don't trust Saudi Arabia or Kuwait or Pakistan or Israel or Germany or India. Should we start levying sanctions, kicking out their diplomats and threaten war with them as well?

It is better to ally with the Russians than not ally with them.

The government wants you to see boogymen at every turn. Don't be a sheep.

We don't have to ally with them. We don't have to be their mortal enemies either.

No, but they are meaningless side shows. It's just something you put up with.

None of those countries are any kind of a real threat or potential threat.

As De Gaulle once said, a nation has no friends, only interests.

Determining what are interests are is a different thing entirely.
