I don't own the franchise. Whoever does should have the freedom to do what the f@ck they wish to with it. There is no bigger bond fan than me. But if they thinks it would work who am i to argue?
Ticket sales will determine if they were/are correct or not.

Of course they do.
However, it would be crazy for someone to put a new engine in their car when all it needed was a minor tune-up.

This is why Bond will never be black. And it isn't because of the racist Americans. It would probably do ok here, but would bomb world wide. Europe is extremely racist and that is where the Bond films have made their money. Europeans would never go for it.

the movies have borne no relation to the books for years, other than the general concept of a British secret agent (which is quite obviously not race specific in 2014)
You have still said nothing to contradict the widely accepted notion that Idris Elba is a total badass actor, and that there is NOONE better suited to play such a character. Watch Luther and The Wire and some of his movie performances and you will likely agree.
Elba is the PERFECT actor to play Bond, and you can not name a better one.

Ian Fleming is dead.
He wrote 6 novels I believe.
All further writing concerning James Bond is heresy. There is no more true Bond as sanctified by Ian.

The one true Bond died with Ian. Sorry guys.
