If you have ever attended a military funeral, especially one with a Marine Corps honor guard, you would truly feel humbled.

Semper fi Gunny!

Hahahahha... USN... there's a reason they joined a subset, AKA not the navy.

Yep. My buddy in HS died in Fallujah.

I was a civilian at Miramar when he was flown back to the states. It was a moment I didn’t think I’d have with him.

I thanked the Marine that stood next to him before they continued on to Missouri.

He reminded me that I would have done the same for one of my brothers.

He was with him to the grave.

Whatever man.

Any Marine that’s seen combat loves the Navy.

And any Sailor that’s served with a Marine in the field as a Medic or on a Carrier, loves the Marines.

Sorry that you never got a chance to understand the bond.

A lot of people don't realize the Navy Corpsman angle.

That would be Corpsman. No greater friend to a Marine in combat.

There’s a reason they call them Hospital CORPSman.

They were the absolute worst on a boat, just horrible, but the FMF types were legit.

Navy guys know what I mean. frick Sick Call.

Airwing Marines were a pain in the arse until the first port visit, after that you’d find yourself in their shop asking for test equipment, and by the tail end of the cruise you’d have 2 or 3 of them in your shop playing Goldeneye or Madden, and there might be fights.

I’ve got friends for life from VMFA-314. Great squadron. I was lucky enough to work next to that squadron as a civilian as well.

So Semper Fi from a Sailor who gets the “Sorry arse Airwing Marines”

Lol.

This is not true, particularly in the GWOT where the USMC has deployed much more like the Army, and operated much more independently of the Navy than it would for traditional, doctrinal USMC ops.

HM's in the FMF certainly do. But, serving with Marines on a carrier is no bonding experience for the majority of sailors.

You're an idiot.

If you go to sick call with a legit issue they get you to a doc, nurse, or PA promptly. The HM's have no effect on things unless you're going there for mundane bullshite that you shouldn't be at sick call for anyway.

There is no added competency for sick call or routine stuff just because an HM goes to the FMF.

Also, if you have an emergent issue on a boat, the first person you'll see in most situations is an Independent Duty Corpsman who is, without a doubt, a legit motherfricker. Busted my scalp down to the bone on a carrier and they walked me to the ER there - the only person I saw was an IDC - who did everything from examination to stitching it all up. Your regular FMF HM could not do that.

Are you one of those chodes that did a short tour, got out and got a civ job doing similar work on base because you couldn't handle wearing a uniform every day? 'frick muster, man. I don't need Chief breathing down my neck every day. I wanna get drunk and hang with my bros and wear jeans to work.'

Yeah, it's not like I've been with them on the boat, in the field, in combat and in a clinic.

For you retards out there, just so you know - I've been in both the Army and the Navy. I've deployed with both. I know WTF I'm talking about.
